What is PAD?

Photoactivated disinfection (PAD) is an innovative technique that is used to selectively destroy pathogenic and carious bacteria. It is an effective way to treat infections in the oral cavity. It involves the use of a substance that is sensitive to red light (635nm). This substance binds to the structures of pathogens but does not bind to human substances. Under the influence of the 635nm light beam, singlet oxygen and reactive oxygen species are produced, which have no effect on human tissue and immediately destroy microorganisms. Therefore, photoactivated disinfection is a completely safe method. The PAD procedure is relatively quick, simple and non-invasive. It effectively removes the bacteria responsible for the formation of caries (application in endodontic, periodontal, implant treatment).

What gives better results – laser or lamp whitening?

Laser whitening provides better results than lamp treatment. It lightens teeth by several shades with minimum risk of hypersensitivity.

What is photobiomodulation?

PHOTOBIOMODULATION is the term used to describe the modulation of biological changes of cells and tissues.

What are the effects of photobiomodulation?
